Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Compensation: $14–$16/hour, based on qualifications and experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Are you passionate about connecting people to information and promoting the value of library services? The Stark County Law Library is seeking a proactive Library Assistant to support both day-to-day library operations and outreach efforts. This role requires strong customer service orientation, excellent communication skills, comfort with digital tools, and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities in a small, collaborative setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Patron Assistance and Customer Service:
· Serve as point of contact for patrons, offering guidance on library resources and services.
· Perform advanced searches in the library’s databases and online catalog to assist patrons.
· Handle circulation tasks: checkouts, returns, payments, registering new patrons, updating membership data, printing bills, answering phones, respond to email inquiries and generating usage statistics.
· Manage membership records by entering new information and processing payments.
· Ensure the library remains well-stocked and orderly.
Marketing & Outreach:
· Create engaging content for social media campaigns to promote library resources to Stark County and the broader legal community.
· Produce and distribute the monthly library newsletter (print and digital), ensuring engaging content and professional layout.
· Collaborate on marketing strategies, materials, and outreach efforts.
Perform other tasks assigned by the Director to support overall library operations and outreach efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred :
· Library experience with emphasis on customer service.
· Familiarity with digital marketing tools (Constant Contact, Canva, etc.).
· Social media management skills and website maintenance experience.
Required :
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
· Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively in a small team.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Familiarity or willingness to learn legal research and marketing tools and library systems.
